Real estate accounting, tax, and advisory for investors and operators across the U.S.

What software and platforms do you work with?

The firm integrates with the major property management and accounting platforms used in real estate. QuickBooks Online is the core accounting system for most clients. On the property management side, we work with AppFolio, Buildium, Yardi, and DoorLoop. For syndicators and fund managers who need investor portals, Matthew has experience with InvestNext, Juniper, and others. Short-term rental operators use a variety of platforms, and the firm has worked across multiple STR management systems.

What ties it together is a proprietary application Matthew built specifically for real estate. The app connects with QuickBooks Online and the property management platforms so property data flows into your books without manual re-entry. Rent rolls, tenant payments, expenses, and owner distributions sync automatically. This keeps the monthly close tight and eliminates the errors that come from keying in data twice.

If you are already running your properties on one of these platforms, you do not need to switch to anything new. The firm meets you where your data lives. If you are using something else or managing everything in spreadsheets, we can work with that and help you migrate to a more scalable setup when you are ready.

This technology layer supports the firm’s real estate bookkeeping work. Monthly reconciliations, property-level profit and loss statements, and lender reporting all depend on clean data coming in. The same infrastructure feeds investor reporting, capital account tracking, and the advisory services for clients who need a fractional CFO for real estate.

Rock Real Estate Services is fully virtual and works with real estate investors across the 48 contiguous states. Every engagement is led by Matthew Rodrigue personally, with direct access throughout.

Should I hold my flips in an S-corp?

Frequent flipping can trigger dealer status, which means your profits are taxed as ordinary income plus self-employment tax. An S-corp can help by letting you take some profit as distributions rather than salary, reducing the SE tax hit. This is a structuring decision that depends on your volume and overall tax situation.
